I wonder how many dead or sleeping people interviewed for this book. He is just a hack trying to sell his fiction as great insights.
Bob Woodward is a pundit, he has done one thing right and now he is a subject matter expert on everything. A thorough analysis on judgement in war usually takes hundreds of books and Woodwards is just one of them. Al Sadr is laying back in Iran. He couldn't win and probably would have been killed if he continued to fight the Iraqi and American forces. He will have much more leverage when the U.S. leaves.
Five years after Bush invaded Iraq and he still hasn't been able to end the war. General Petraeus said just a day or two ago that al-Qaida in Iraq remains undefeated. We turn Anbar over to the Iraqis, and they may lose control of the province again. Meanwhile, the Taliban has built itself back up in Afghanistan, and we can't send more troops there because we're bogged down in Iraq. Our troops have done magnificently, as they always do. Too bad Bush hasn't. And the McFailin' ticket talks about victory in Iraq. What a joke.
Don Stevens is absolutely correct. And how many Iraqi children have been maimed or killed for Bush's folly? Bush had no prior knowledge of Sunni/Shia tensions, we were to be welcomed as liberators and the war would pay for itself. Osama bin Laden is laughing his arse off at the Chimp's new world order.
