That is baloney. This is one Democrat who will tell you we Democrats will fight the enemy to the death if necessary to defend our country. That study just shows faulty judgments by fearful people who're stuck in the past. A few things Barack Obama said in his acceptance speech: "We are the party of Roosevelt. We are the party of Kennedy. So don't tell me that Democrats won't defend this country. Don't tell me that Democrats won't keep us safe; As Commander-in-Chief, I will never hesitate to defend this nation, but I will only send our troops into harm's way with a clear mission and a sacred commitment to give them the equipment they need in battle and the care and benefits they deserve when they come home; I will end this war in Iraq responsibly, and finish the fight against al Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan. I will rebuild our military to meet future conflicts." Incidentally, President Bush has failed to keep the U.S. totally safe. There are still major holes in security at our nation's ports. Thousands of cargo containers are still not being screened. And all the undue focus on the war in Iraq has allowed the Taliban to regroup in Afghanistan, where they're carrying out a much higher percentage of attacks and killing more of our troops. However, we can't send more troops there because they're bogged down in Iraq. Americans should be forward-looking regarding security, rather than fearful and stuck in the past. Count on Obama, Biden, and the rest of us Democrats to keep you safe. We love our country too and will defend her.

OK...the Democrats are the party of Fonda, the party of Streisand, the party of Moore, the party of "Winter Soldier" Kerry, the party of Sheehan, and I could go on and on, but I do have to go to work...Demos HATE the military and feel that it should be used as "supercops" or "the Peace Corp with guns"...it is neither...and however you wish to construe the (mis)adventure in Iraq, the military has kicked proverbial b*tt there...it's the Demo party who made a big deal out of Abu Ghraib and Gitmo and Haditha...because it is more important for the Demos to run down the soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines than it is to win the war(s)...this is why Demos lose the military vote and the confidence of the American public on national security...on this one, FDR and JFK roll in their graves!

The problem with Don Stevens' comment below, and Obama himself, is that the current Democrat party is most definitely NOT the party of Kennedy or Roosevelt. In fact, if either of those men were running today the Democrat party would treat them pretty much the way they are treating poor Joe Lieberman. Joe is from the same party as Kennedy or Truman or even Roosevelt, and the current Dems are pretty much throwing him out. Joe is for a strong national defense and negotiating from strength. The current Dems, a.k.a. the party of Obama, want to negotiate from weakness, want to cut and run, want to slash our defense budget, our forces, and equipment. I think Kennedy, Truman, and Roosevelt would be horrified as to how much their party had been taken over by the fruitcake lefties like Kerry (who is, in my mind, a traitor), Harry Reid, Pelosi,Jimma Carter, and other cowards and appeasers. No wonder the country doesn't trust them.

I'm glad to read that there are still a few 'rank and file' democrats who actually love their country and will actually, at least say they will, fight for it. It's too bad the leadership of the party is made up of anti-American, anti-Military, gutless appeasers and open cowards; such as Reid, Pelosi, Kerrie, and other leftist fools to whom bribes, kick-backs and other pay-offs come well before GOD and Country.

The three doubts above deal with a lack of integrity in national security. You cannot lead the military when you consider them torturers, murderers and Nazi's or remain silent while senior members of the party refer to them as such. You cannot support the troops and not the war when a majority of the Congress authorized the war. You cannot expect our military to win the war when the leaders in Congress say it is lost. You cannot remain deaf when the majority of the citizens recognize energy dependence as a national security threat. You cannot build national security integrity with a blame agenda.

If you are not supporting their mission, you are NOT supporting the troops. Period. Q: If this is the party of Kennedy, why has this party never reiterated his message? “We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution. Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans -- born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage, and unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today at home and around the world. Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to assure the survival and the success of liberty." John Fitzgerald Kennedy -- January 20, 1961 A: The DNC (or Do Nothing Congress) majority is NOT the party of Kennedy. The GOP is the party of Kennedy.

Don Stevens: Democrats are also the party of Carter and Clinton, which is a more up to date assessment. This is a Democrat-leaning pollster saying this, imagine what agnostic and Republican polls say. After Biden betrayed national security by divulging the existence and location of the NRO back in the 90s, it's been downhill since then. FDR and Kennedy would put most modern Democrat leaders in jail these days, right next to the NYT and WaPo. Don your Democrat leaders do not reflect your ardent defense of this country, switch to the party who 'will not falter, will not fail' to defend our nation and its interests.

The Dems care not for the "military vote". They will do all possible to have any ballots cast overseas to be dis-allowed, just like the year 2000 elections. That was criminal for the Dems to prevent the military vote from being counted. Karl in Phoenix Army Airborne Ranger

Most Americans have known for a few decades now that putting Democrats in charge of national security is like putting a chicklet in charge of a hen-house. Rob Brantley
