WiserNow

Obama is finally in a well-earned free-fall. How many times in the last few days have we heard Democratic pundits, and even Obama himself, say that Republicans/McCain are crazy if they think that Hillary supporters are "stupid" enough to vote for McCain/Palin. I read "How to Make Friends and Influence People" long ago. It isn't rocket science to know that you don't insult those who may not fully embrace your opinion at any phase of trying to curry favor from them. Apparently, to the Obama camp, it is rocket science. I voted Democrat in the past. Not this time. I vote in a swing state too ! On a side note. Who pays Community Organizers? Surely whoever pays them could also tell us what they paid for. I have no clue, at least not any that are flattering.

Looks like NBC was paying close attention, demoting Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann to the rank of 'commentator'. Perhaps they didn't feel it was worth risking whatever sorry adult market share they have left, to pick up a few extra juvenile minds.

Americans do not want to discuss real issues..they want plastic people who look good to them...but do not discuss real issues ...like mccain the "maverick" who voted with Bush 90% ot the time or the fact that he is the party that got us into this mess...or sara P..pretty beauty queen with no qualifications at all except soccer mom and basketball team leader. It is like high school all over again..and the unqualified will be elected because it a popularity contest and do not forget since most americans get their news from the TV.. "my tv says they would be great, so it must be true!"

Rnactivist, Pot-kettle-black. When belittling Sarah on her experience at the bottom of the ticket, how quickly you Kool-Aid drinkers are to conveniently omit from note the lack of experience AND accomplishment by the top of your pathetic combo. Pssst .. just between you and me, I think the voting public isn't buying the BS anymore. In fact, I think they see your over ... and over ... and over again dribble as highly hypocritical. Do please keep it up though. Thanks !

I voted Democrat in the last two elections, and have never voted for a Republican presidential candidate in the four elections in which I cast ballots. I am a 36 year old woman and I have 100% confidence in my candidate, John McCain, who will be a great President! While he generally is considered "conservative" he is not beholden to any party, and he has proved that time and again as is evident by his past record. One issue that is very important to me is the environment. John McCain is very environmentally friendly and that is one of the many reasons I am enthusiastic about him. The most important qualities he possesses that has me in his corner are his strength of character and his integrity. To take a line from Sarah Palin, McCain has used his career to affect good change, rather than using change to further his career, like Obama.

As an independent, I vote for the bottom line, and I am cautious of theater-like candidates. I am dissapointed by Americans who want to vote for someone for president based on their looks. The presidency is not about being black or African-American, white, male or female, old or young. I refuse to sacrifice my country because Obama is the first African-American to run, or because Palin is going to be the first female VP. My ideal candidate does not need to "have a dream" or set up extravagant stages. He or she will have to show me the "meat and potatoes". If you want to evaluate the candidates it is actually very simple. Character: Obama nice guy, but McCain is a Hero. Experience: Do I even have to discuss this? Being a reformer: Obama has no history of EVER challenging or taking on the Chicago Machine of which he became a product. McCain was described in washington as a noncomformist. Obama selected a VP who has been around for several decades and fits in great with the current system, while McCain selected someone "outside the box". Dreamers will always be dreamers and dreaming does not translate to ACTION. It is no wonder that dreaming and theater go well together.

SDindependent-you are getting much shriller and still not coming up with anything intelligent or substantive. You show yourself to be about as independent as moveon.org. Maybe there is a reason for that.

Obama has been running on this notion of "Change" for a long time. During the primaries, whenever they did focus groups and asked the voters to name one accomplishment of Obama's to justify voting for him, not one of them could come up with a single accomplishment. This happened repeatedly. Then one lady raised her hand and said "He's black". The commentator asked "Is being black an ACCCOMPLISHMENT?" There was silence. So, no real accomplishments except, perhaps, being black, which is not an accomplishment. Now, I want to ask this--If the man has no real accomplishments, then how come he says he is the candidate for "Change"? What has Barack Obama EVER DONE TO EFFECT CHANGE IN THIS COUNTRY? I WILL TELL YOU---NOTHING. NOTHING.

Peaking in September is not great; had Obamma stayed on top another month or 6 weeks Buyers Remorse would have set in against Obamma and then thrusted McCain over the top. Now McCain has to maintain this lead and momentum for 65 days....oh boy....that is a tall order.

It looks like one self-described independent, SDIndependent is not part of the flock. But how he can blame Republicans, let alone Bush and McCain for the Fannie & Freddie mess is beyond me. Republicans, including McCain have been after these Democrat created entities for years now. You can look it up (I suggest google or perusing the Wall Street Journal articles.) For example see a McCain editorial where he appears to "get it" much more than any other politician (and note the date): http://www.tampabay.com/opinion/editorials/article735638.ece And every time reform (a.k.a. "change") legislation has been proposed, Democrats like Barney Frank block it. And each time The Barney Block is implemented, Barney claims the Republicans are wrong to imply the tax payers are on the hook and the two are sound financially. And now we see it play out and the two going down in flames. And once again, as with The Surge, McCain was right and the Democrats were wrong. And this time the Dems mistake is costing us a $200 billion down payment on over $5 trillion of debt. And someone that apparently does not know the history of these "government sponsored entities" and the opposition to them by Republicans starts claiming Republicans are responsible! What a laugh. Fannie & Freddie are at the heart of the mortgage and finance problems and we have been fore-warned for years that they are distorting the market. Now the chickens have come home to roost and the fox guarding the coop as always is a Democrat. And why not, Barney made sure he gets to take $500 million a year from Fannie & Freddie to distribute as he sees fit (earmarks of course) and to ensure that cheap loans are available now and in the future. Some change. That's what got us here to begin with. Once again McCain was on the mark and Obama missed the mark completely.

I was raised in a family of democrats. I always considered myself a democrat, until after several elections where I felt I HAD to vote for republicans, I realized that I really was a republican, or at least an independent. I have a dear, dear friend who is wildly liberal, but even she cannot bring herself to vote for Mr. Audacity. I think most of the democrats of today are a bunch of whining, nasty, adolescent hypocrites. I will never be able to vote for a party who votes for indiscriminate abortion and then turns around and holds candlelight vigils for convicted murderers and rapists.

It is not looking good at all for the Obama/Biden ticket. They have nowhere to look for another "bounce". This is the time of year when people begin making decisions that they carry into the voting booth, and the decisions seem to be going in McCains direction in large numbers. I think I begin to see an American consensus forming around McCain/Palin.

McCain has managed to basically solidify his base due to his VP choice. Independents are NOT the same as undecideds. Most of us feel Independents are Repubs in disguise. So this is nothing major. It's sad that people are so uninformed that they allow the MSM to shape their beliefs. People please do your homework so that you know what you speak. Repubs ran this country into the ground for 8 years. Dems just got the majority in congress a little over a year ago people!!!!! This is a fact. True Dems vote Dem and true "liberals" vote "liberal". Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac are in a mess due to Repubs spear heading "privatization" over government regulation. Repubs want the gov't to stay out of affairs (most Dems I know agree with the exception of banks & social security) & let them run things as they see fit. The only problem is that the gov't now has to bail out & repair their mistakes with taxpayers money. Repubs have been the majority for over 14 years!!!! Dems JUST GOT the majority in 2006. Repubs & Dems fighting against each other causes nothing to get done. People wake up!!! Also, if you are going to quote Lou Dobbs, you should first know that he is a Repub disguised as an Independent. I saw the same show. Lou failed to mention that McCain has Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac lobbyists working for his campaign!!!! Calling him a "kool aid" drinker is offensive to african americans and has racist undertones. So no one is surprised that you don't feel McCain's receipt of contributions at all warrant suspicion as well. All candidates receive contributions. One final point for those of you that want real "meat & potatoes" & no "theatrics", please take the time to actually listen to the candidates, go to their websites & GET INFORMED. Information is not going to just jump into your lap. You have to do your own research. O has been speaking about "issues" for 2 years now, if you don't know the substance of these issues by now, it's your fault not his. Does anyone care about the issues? McCain/Palin have been nothing but theatrics, no substance, no issues, wrought with investigation, lies, & the list goes on and on. However, this doesn't seen to make any of you question their ethics. The other day, a CNN reporter asked this lady at a Palin speech why she was voting for her. She says, "she has spunk and she's a mom like me"!!! What the heck!!!! I have yet to see a Palin supporter cite real issues as a reason for supporting McCain. Remember folks, she is no.2 not no.1 on the ticket. Obama is the real agent of change and the original. McCain can steal the message, but can he truly deliver? Only time will tell.
