Putin's window of opportunity is still open. The Russian's are in Venezuela as a confidence boost. They are just waiting for Israel to attack Iran and threaten the Straits of Hormuz. When Chavez cuts the oil to the U.S., Russia will control the BTC pipeline and have Europe by the throat. He will keep a force in power until the window closes, it's that simple.
