To Katrina: Get bent you liberal jerk! If we had drilled more 10 YEARS AGO, we wouldn't be in this mess...but, no, you and your hippie friends, in league with a bunch of socialists determined to ruin the USA and then recreate it in your utopian vision, blocked drilling AND convinced the American public that it was the RIGHT THING TO DO! Only problem is, most Americans aren't hippies or socialists, and they are starting to get mad...so far, you and your leftist media buddies have them confused, but that won't last forever either...and have you ever seen Frankenstein, where the enraged peasants go for the good doctor and his monster?...well, eventually they will come for you, as you and your socialist buddies go down for the count...tell Karl "Hey" when you see him in HELL!

Good idea Katrina. I'd be happy if rationing only applied to liberals. But making sarcastic comments about "drilling a month ago" just shows you're stuck on stupid. The Democrat position that we should NOT drill here and drill now ... is precisely so you can repeat, ten years from now, "drilling now won't solve our energy problem". In other words, *you don't want any drilling at all, now or ever*. Oh, btw, I guess you're 2 for 3: this **is** a nation of whiners. Whiners who complain that the payment on the subprime mortgage they contractually agreed to has (*gasp*) gone up. Whiners in the ZERO tax bracket who complain it's so darn tough to pay for their premium cable TV, iPhone, Lincoln Navigator, vacation to Grand Cayman, *and* 65" plasma TV. Whiners who bad-mouth the troops or their mission while enjoying the very freedom those troops provide. I have a better idea: let's just ration gas for whining libs who pay no taxes.

lol, just being angry about something doesn't mean your right about it. While power outages from the hurricanes are the major cause of this problem, we face serious problems with oil over the next 5 years and beyond. These problems will make the 70's problems look insignificant. Even worse, it turns out its not anybody's fault, but rest assured, we'll waste our time blaming democrats/republicans/oil companies/arabs rather than adapting to the reality.

MYTH: Hippies, socialists, their leftist media buddies, terrorists, Karl Marx, and whiners in the ZERO tax bracket have prevented offshore drilling, which would have solved our energy problems if started 10 years ago. FACT: Only 35% of the OCS (Outer Continental Shelf) of the U.S. is currently off-limits to oil drilling (611 million acres out of 1760 million). The best geological prospects for finding more oil are actually in the areas already open, around Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico. More oil could indeed be found in the off-limits areas, but the amount is most likely limited - the U.S. Energy Information Administration (which is, if anything, optimistic) forecasts that these areas might provide 200,000 barrels/day by 2020-around 2 percent of our current consumption. BOTTOM LINE: If all areas had been opened to offshore drilling 10 years ago, U.S. oil production would most likely be a grand total of 2% higher today. PREDICTION: The off-limits areas will surely be drilled, the oil will be pumped - and then will be gone. The desperation of the ignorant masses will never be impeded by a few minor facts.
