I agree with McCain's recommendation regarding the dismissals:however, I fear that his comments about Obama will be taken negatively. W. K. Merkel 129 Los Cedros Loop Kerrville, TX 78028

Good Article. It's so nice that the MEDIA, WALL STREET, and WASHINGTON are making this to be my problem. It seems this is a millionares problem. Where was the SEC? Where was the Federal Trade Commission? When executives were fat dumb and happy, who cared then? If you show a balance sheet to the IRS, SEC, etc.., and your profit to loss statement is -500%, wouldn't that red flag go up?? And FINALLY, WHY AM I BAILING OUT BILLIONARE CORPORATE EXECUTIVES??

McCain obviously knows very little about how the exchanges works. None of this had anything to do with naked shorts or the repeal of the uptick rule. Uptick rule never made any sense and never stopped anyone from effectively shorting a stock using a put option. Agreed the head of the SEC should be fired but not for these issues. The misusage of derivatives has poisened the credit markets. How the SEC could stand aside and watch this for years without stepping in is gross negligence and incompetance. The usual suspects in the Bush administration. Distressed to see McCain knows so little about how things work.

McCain: "The chairman of the SEC serves at the appointment of the president. And in my view has betrayed the public trust. If I were president today, I would fire him." McCain reveals his ignorance about yet another subject. Though the President nominates -- and the Senate confirms -- the Chairman of the SEC, a commissioner of an independent regulatory commission can NOT be removed by the President and does NOT serve at the pleasure of the President. The President can request that the Chairman of the SEC step down, but can NOT simply fire him or her as McCain would have the public believe. There is a slight difference. Of course, McCain is the guy who has on several occasions referred to the non-existent country of Czechoslovakia and believes that Iraq borders on Pakistan so it might be asking a bit much to expect him to know anything about regulatory commissions.

Obama and the Democrats are part of the party that led us into our current national crisis. Many people neglected the facts of history. When one created policies, it may take 10 to 50 years to see the historical impact of those decisions. Please trace back to how and when these decisions were first made and hold them responsible. There should be a serious investigation made on the events and actions that have led to the present day financial crisis. The Democrats have been so good at digging up dirt about others to blame and denounce, but they are never good at investigating themselves. Both Nancy P. and Harry R. are out of town. How much do they care? The Democratic leadership has been waiting for this so we can have a socialist government and they can save us all by taking over the control of our earnings.

McCain may not know all the nuances but his actions are in the right direction as opposed to you know who.

McCain admitted he doesn't know about the economy - ENOUGH SAID. In case it's not: "the fundamentals of the economy are strong, and by fundamentals I mean American workers" Anyone who knows anything about economics knows how stupid McCain sounds. It is painful for people with half a brain to think that this person could be in charge of policy decision for our economy. John McCain will make our economy worse because he doesn't GET IT. period. he has already admitted that so there's nothing left to question.

Billions of bucks just don't disappear into thin air! At the snails' rate that both parties are moving, bankers and brokers will be getting away with the loot. Somebody's got to stand-up with names, (global) addresses, phone numbers, accounts, and say: WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE!
