SEEN AND HEARD AT NATIONALS PARK

What had been presumed for at least a few days was confirmed by the Nationals on Wednesday: Jesus Flores, Ronnie Belliard, Austin Kearns and Dmitri Young all are being shut down for the season. The club had hoped all or some of the foursome would recover from injuries and make it back for the final week or two.

“I don’t think it makes any sense at this point to have a guy start playing at less than 100 percent or to have a guy work so hard to get 100 percent and play the last two games of the season without having at-bats for so long,” manager Manny Acta said.
