I'm a 62 year old white retired U.S.Marine and Decorated Vietnam Veteran and I have alway had problems with Blacks and I want to tell you I'm voting for Barrack Obama bacause he is the best person to lead this country, and for the first time I have even donated to a persndential campaign.Put color aside we can't have a metally disabled 72 year old fool running are country, vote for your childrens future a future of change.

WiserNow

Well, this ex-Army is voting for McCain. Obama is a crook, and color has nothing to do with it. I'm not voting for a crook. Vote for your children's future, for reform for the better that we must have, not change for whim's sake. Obama isn't change, he is more of the same. That's all his legislative career has ever been. He has never bucked his party. Not once. McCain has, many times, because he puts country first. This ex-Army can spell too.

It is common knowledge that those who are racist identify with the republican party. COMMON knowledge. So this does not surprise me in the least.

George Orwell was a man ahead of his time. THIS ARTICLE IS DOUBLETHINK. If this were truly an independent study, it would have also analyzed how the African-Americans feel about the "whites". The poll is biased because of that and was implemented to show prejudice to shame the voters into voting the liberal social conscience. Who is the author?

Wisernow,I don't think, so maybe my spelling needs help but thats because I took a bullet in the the left side of my head,I'm also 100% disabled and if you check the facts about mcCain and his past you will see he is the only crook running in this race. This guy is so Anti- veteran it makes me sick, and like me he has a 100% disability but his is for PTSD,the guy is not only crazy but unstable.Check out VVAJMC and get the truth about this(WAR HERO) HA HA I'll bet your a real Redneck.

JUST TEN of the 100s of REASONS NOT TO SUPPORT MCCAIN (1) McCain gave military secrets to the Viet Cong. Which he admitted to in his own book. (2) McCain made radio announcements for the Viet Cong telling American sailors and soldiers not to fight and to give up. (3) McCain cheated on his wife with more than one woman and admitted it. (4) McCain left his wife when she was sickly and needed him most. (5)McCain repeatedly mistreated the POW-MIAs’ wives and families and activists on many occasions. (6) McCain did all he could to normalize US-VIET NAM Relations in opposition to most US veterans groups. (7) McCain signed that death warrant for any and all living US POW-MIAs in VIET NAM by normalizing relations. (8) McCain was heavily involved in the Keating 5. (9) McCain did nothing about Clinton’s Treason of selling NUKES to the Chinese for ten million in illegal Communist Chinese Campaign money... Even though he was in the unique position to do something about it as the Chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee. (10) McCain’s so-called “Campaign Finance Reform” Bill is totally unconstitutional and would stop free speech..... even religious speech!

IMPORTANT NEWS: "Not all whites are prejudiced." Any article that contains such a puerile thought should be totally ignored. Sox, It's an AP-produced article. You are right to question it. The Associated Press is, as usual, writing from a very biased viewpoint. I think it's great that the Washington Times publishes drivel like this, however, because it really shows how we shouldn't pay much attention to AP stories, and it lets us know the distorted views of so much of the press. It helps to know what the opposition is thinking, even if it is also rather sad and frightening.

meowomon, it's also common knowledge that you're an idiot and you are an idiot. And as for Mccain, I'll have to hold my nose again this election to vote for him, but he's ten times the man Obama is who is nothing but an arrogant, conceited, selfish, self righteous, corrupt to the core, dishonest, lying, two faced, inexperienced, poor judgment, poor character, has questionable associations, bullsh*tting, voted most liberal (Biden was 3rd and an admitted socialist was 2nd), con artist. In summary, both candidates stink but I'd still go with Mccain. Hopefully, the Democrats lose again and reevaluate their positions and choose someone moderate with experience and who is fiscally responsible like Mark Warner who has the potential to become a great President like JFK, instead of choosing an American Idol candidate.

Anyone who calls themself a Democrat and doesn't plan to vote for Barack Obama just because he's black is not a true Democrat and is not a true American. I'm a white man who's going to vote for Obama, and I'm doing it because he's the best man for the job. This election is too important, and the issues our country faces are too large, to waste a single vote on something so small-minded as racism. Americans will elect Barack Obama president because he's the best man for the job and because Americans always do the right thing.

tomc100,I guess this means your not going to vote for Barrack,I hope you took a breather durning your ranting..Obama is a winner and is going to kick that old white guys butt.

"Racial attitudes cost Obama" Yes, and racial attitudes also reward Obama. The significant statistic would be the number of voters who WILL NOT vote for Obama because of race MINUS the number of voters who WILL vote for him because of race. My bet would be that he will reap a net benefit because of race.

Somehow they didn't ask (or more likely didn't report) the breakdown of Democrats/Republicans with racist attitudes. We have to keep up the myth that Republicans (the party of Lincoln) is the home of all of the racists and the Democrats(the party of KKK Wizard Byrd) is the party of love and tolerance. Face it , a couple of percent of angry women, or Jews, or military persons, or any other group will give McCain a landslide. In Novermber however it will all be attributed to racism so that the liberals can keep the Blacks in their modern day slavery.

wmcbe1

Why is it that when white people want to vote for a white man, it has got to be racial, or have to do with racism, but a overwhelming majority of black people are voting for a black man, not because of his views, but exclusively because he is black and no one mentions a thing about racism.

After reading this article and all of the comments posted, I have to say that the more things change the more they remain the same. I'm voting for Obama because I want a better future for my child and grandchild. History has shown repeatedly that whenever Nubian people (brown-skinned, curly-haired)are allowed to get past the stereotypes of Tamahu people (pale-skinned, straight-haired)the affects have world-wide benefits. Major American sports teams are a prime example of this fact and alot of people over my 40+ years of life have been fired just for mentioning this in a public forum. We transport food all over the world because a Nubian came up with refrigerated transportation, every modern city in the world now has traffic lights, millions of people have a stable food source and the brand name Reeses is now world renound because of the efforts of great men. I have faith in my own people to be able to provide the right things at the right times for the entire world. Noone can disagree that this country and the world as a whole needs a change in the way this country is run. McCain/Palin would be an even bigger mistake than letting George get away with stealing his first term with Jed's help down in Florida.

met9: If all you say is true why isn't an African country the world leader? Africa is the reciepient of charity from the world, not the other way around. You are just spouting the same racism that Jerimiah Wright did before Barry shut him up. Refrigerated transport and traffic lights didn't just appear, they are the result of centuries of discoveries by all kinds of people, not just one kind.
