McCain just doesn't want to debate. He is using the economy as an excuse.

I think John McCain is making a smart move here. This crisis needs the fullest attention and a debate can wait. Obama has to study for the debate which should frighten people. If Obama is this "messiah" that the dem's claim him to be, he should not have to study.

Maybe McCain is doing this to force Obama to give details to his plan for recovery, which he has yet to release. Doesn't look good though.

This is a transparent political stunt and does not help McCain at all.

What a transparent political ploy by McCain. Just like the hurricane delay at the convention. He's trying to look "Presidential" by blackmailing Obama because Obama's in the lead and he knows the debates will put Obama even farther ahead. This has nothing to do with being Presidential and everything to do with cheap politics. The financial disaster is McCain's fault and everyone knows it. McCain will probably try to delay the election itself at this rate.

It's not McCain trying to hide from the debate it is Obama trying to hide his whole identity. He knows if he goes back he would support the plan (since he never breaks party lines) And a vote in favor of this plan would kill his campaign. He is tryng to avoid having to show his true colors until after the election...when it is too late. Obama if the economy is your strong point and this is what the campaign is about, GET BACK TO WASHINGTON. Hell you have not been there half of the time anyway. At least show up and vote present. COWARD

Go McCain!!!!!! Finally a grown-up in charge. McCain has been talking about this issue since 2005 (Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac). Where was Obama? Who is he going to debate?Himself?

This is called the sucker punch in politics. Mccain the doer vs Obama the talker. Brilliant move. The fact that all these libs are frantically blogging shows that it was the right move.

Will McCain be wearing a cape as he walks into the senate? If so, will he take it off when he remembers that he doesn't know a thing about the economy, sits down in his chair, and takes a nap?

As McCain sees his rating sink like lead in water he is using the economy to play games with American people to distract people from his shameful campaign...he is the crux of the problem. Having him try to solve the economic blunder that we are facing is like letting the fox guard the hen house... the rest of you who think the this is a brilliant move by McCain get your heads out your asses...you obviously have been overpowered by the sh*tstink for the last 8 years of Bush and 26 years of McCains presence in the congress where he helped create this god damn mess

I am not surprised. He is a whimp, as well as Liberman. He had to change something so this is it, change, change, change. He is a nut. He does not use good judgement. It does not make sense to postpone the debate in Mississippi. He has the airplane, fly to DC, fly to Miss,is it such a hard decision for McCain? It is a politic move but it is not a good one. Makes him look like a idiot. Ratings are down so he panics. It doesn't matter about all the work involved in Miss to bring about this debate. I hope Obama and Miss do not give in to this man. (he has no horsesense)

Nobama doesn't want to go back to Washington and work on the crisis, but thinks it is more important to keep on campaigning. Miscommunication my aunt fanny. He has no sense of priority, or what is important beyond keeping his ugly mugg in front of the cameras, and once again he has nothing to offer but idle words - no action. We should all be learning what leadership is now. It isn't just lofty words.

“John McCain wants to postpone” ? WHAT? Is he kidding? This nation, this great country, through world and civil wars, through economic recessions and depressions through “Act-of-God” natural disasters, through Islamo-terrorism, through hell and high water….has never EVER! postponed an election or a debate. Now is not the time for the weak, for cowardice, for lame excuses, for the frightened and the scared….. Let’s have the DEBATES! We are Americans! What is McCain afraid of? Dropping polls? Is that it? We are a Free Republic of individuals who love liberty first and who will never, NEVER! allow any calamity or act of terror or a whining political excuse to postpone a debate and thus delay or stop us from our greatest and most important duty as a free people: To assess, determine, and chose the next President of these United States of America. ———— let us have the debates! let this nation rise up and fear nothing! let this nation get on with the elections! let freedom ring! let freedom reign!!!!

McGoo's been talking about Fannie Mae since '05 allright, he's been preaching AGAINST any and all oversight of them. That's because they've been pretty heavy with the donations in kind. This is Keating Five times One Hundred. McGoo only received a verbal reprimand and obviously it never tempered his greed. And no, Barney Frank isn't pretending to know more about this than Paulson. He does want to know why the Bush plan demands no criminal repricosity or review. Very Republican of you dubya.
