Excellent article.
However, if the African countries had "coast-guard-like navies" that actually performed, 99 percent of the problem would be solved. The piracy and crime is taking place in waters close to countries where indigenous security has failed. Just where you need a functioning Coast guard.
The American Navy and Coast Guard, much to their credit, are filling in an excellent manner.
This commentary would have benefited if you discussed something relevant to today's news, like increased piracy in recent years. I would have liked Admiral (ret) Ulrichs commentary on that.
