If gun registration is such a huge failure every place it is tried, why do Democratic politicians want gun registration? Surely they see the underlying issue that the Second Amendment seeks to address.

The Second Amendment delineates as a right possession of the means to strike out against oppressive government. Americans won the Revolutionary War in part because the British had failed to confiscate Colonial arms, though they tried. Rights are God-given, and oppressive governments seek to curtail rights of the people in order to enhance their own power. The Obama administration unfortunately is no exception.

Gun-registration schemes always lead to confiscation and further oppression of rights by those in power. As for this citizen, I do not trust a government that does not trust me to own a gun.
