Agreed, MJ and Red Ted were alike in many ways in the way they used the media and their money/power. I'm sure glad I'm not a reporter (no offense to the fair, balanced, and honest reporters), I know of few people who have a worse reputation in this country. Possibly congress, and now Barry is starting to give them a run for their money.

Pure genius, Andrew. And the idot left will hate you more than ever! BRAVO! Maybe it will lead to some definitive soul searching on their part. I doubt it. But I can dream, can't I?

It IS pretty funny watching the Democrats and the media trying desparately to forge some kind of positive bump out of Kennedy's death for their socialist health care nonsense. Note to Democrats: America hated Ted Kennedy almost as much as they hate your health care power grab. Good luck with that Barry, Pelosi, et al...

It is bizarre that leftists continue to believe the theories that people like Kennedy pushed - central planning, social engineering, etc - particularly when you look to their abject failures. Kennedy pushed Medicare which has been over-budget every single year of its existence. He believed in the 'war on poverty' which actually INCREASED poverty. He believed in welfare 'entitlement' and expansion, which resulted in ballooning of the welfare rolls - and the continued destruction of opportunity and family, particularly amongst the inner-city people for whom they claim to have compassion (but would never deign to live among). The Kennedy Dynasty is the most shameful, and shamefully covered-up, story of the 20th century. How many JFK fans know he started the Vietnam War? That it was his idea to hand the war over to left-wing social engineer whiz kids like Robert McNamara, who kept saying "the old ways are over" and "America needs to change" (sound familiar?) and truly believed they were smart enough to 'figure out' problems like poverty, land wars in Asia, and so forth using a common 'progressive' formula. Nobody knows this stuff because we are sold lies by complicit media. We are told that JFK's reign was a Camelot, that he was killed by right-wing extremists, that Ted Kennedy was a 'lion'. Even with Vietnam, the War on Poverty that caused poverty to become epidemic, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Bay of Pigs. Even though Ted Kennedy conspired with Andropov of the Soviet Union to defeat Reagan. Even though Ted Kennedy started the politics of personal destruction with that idiotic speech about Bork. There is nothing to admire in these men. And it amazes me that the lefties keep repeating these theories that have been proven false, over and over again, as if they are new. Change! Change! Central planning! Make it fair! Try reading some history.

Perfectly and brilliantly said. Should be required reading. Situational ethics abound with liberals. We must speak now and loudly. People forget Ted was the black sheep in the family. Jack & Bobby didn't know what to do with him . So they drafted Ted's roommate from harvard to hold Jack's Senate seat until Ted came of age. He rode the gravy train to the end. The entire clan is a disgrace.

I knew Jack Kennedy, Ted, and Ted.............. you were no Jack Kennedy.

When all is said and done, Ted Kennedy may have done more in one lifetime to HARM more Americans than any other one person. History will tell for sure, but his personal agenda arguably did more to harm the economy and create lifelong poverty than any other person. He didn't love Americans ..... he loved himself first and formost. He would kill his girlfriend to get what he wanted .... oh wait .... he did!

Too bad the people who elevated these two pieces of work...or as I refer to them - poor excuses for human beings - either won't get it or don't care! Another despicable thing about Teddy - he spent is life masquerading as some great catholic and the church and his constituents let him get away with it...the church and the people of Mass. should be ashamed of themselves. I hope his family takes a long look at themselves...and change their ways! The Jackson's will be ok as long as they separate themselves from their father...

I can respect Kennedy's consistency in standing by his liberal ideology, even though I obviously disagreed with it. I can respect Stalin's exertion of power too, but I don't have to speak well of him after death. I was surprised by the left's muted criticism of Reagan at his death, and was very surprised at how those who demonized him during his administration admired him at his death. I think that shows how political they are and the desire to "win" overcomes their ability to analyze their opponents fairly in public while they are actively opponents, even though they might really think the opponents are not as bad (or bad at all) as their analysis states. This is indicated by Kennedy's private meeting with Bork after he castigated him on the senate floor and mumbled, "Nothing personal." I truly believe Kennedy was honest in that comment. But I have no respect at all for lies told for political effect, especially when the speaker knows he is telling lies. I also fully believe that Kennedy, with his borking of Bork, began modern times proceedure of demonizing, personally, political opponents and corrupted political speech in a way that pervades politics today. (Jim, I'd be happy to be proven wrong on this if you can show me anything by a top Republican that comes close to Kennedy's rant, before Bork. I am not arguing that Republicans don't play that way today -- although Democrats are more apt to start with that method -- but Kennedy started it.) More conservatives should be remembering and speaking out like Charen and Brietbart. Not doing so gives respect to the lies, not just the man.

I like Mr. Breitbart's comparison of those two players, and I like the above responses.

An interesting comment from Kennedy's funeral: His son, Patrick J. Kennedy, a Rhode Island congressman, related: "... He never gave up, and there was no quit in dad." I add: Except when it came to doing anything to save Mary Jo Kopechne!
