This is a fantastic list. The only item I would add to this is that President Bush deserves a lot more credit for the turning of the tide in Iraq. It's not just Petraeus and Maliki who deserve credit; it's also the president.
The Pope is the person of the year, not the General. Who can compare to the greatest man of our time?
As for movies, the best movie of the year is Slumdog Millionaire. It's an Indian movie and it is far better than anything Hollywood has produced.
