Andrew, maybe next you can do the same for businessmen who continually support television with ads on programs that show business, Christians and their clergy, conservatives and military as evil.
HOLLYWOOD DURING WWII
Hollywood during World War ll.
What an entirely different kind of brew
Of manly men and women with courage.
You couldn’t stop or even discourage
A Deitrich, with a Nazi price on her head,
From joining Bob Hope and others who led
The way overseas to entertain gals and guys
Who were the real stars in celebrities’ eyes.
Carole Landis, Frances Langford never seemed to mind
That they traveled in danger and left glamour behind.
Over enemy skies Jimmy Stewart flew.
Volunteers Tyrone Power and Clark Gable knew
Their fame and fortunes would soon go under
If the Axis forces were allowed to plunder
The country they loved, that had given them fame.
Bette Davis, Joan Crawford got in on the game
With the Hollywood Canteen where the lonely could take
A much needed respite, a well deserved break
From the fears that they faced or were just back from.
Lana Turner scrubbed dishes. Lorraine Day would come
To serve hot coffee. Hedy Lamarr passed around
Warm smiles and comfort. Tired hearts would rebound.
Producers and Directors rose to the occasion
To reassure us our homes were safe from invasion
When we had no idea what the end would be,
When we weren’t at all certain of victory.
And Hollywood now, when we should all be embarrassed
By squirrel brained celebrities who have badgered and harassed
The strong and the brave who give the best they can
To safeguard the freedoms of every pathetic unman
And unwoman who manufacture all the tears they can crank
As they mince and they smirk on their way to the bank.

It's probably been a year since we went to the movies although every single week we check the listings for something we'd like to see.
Good luck with changing the hearts and minds of the Hollywood geniuses.
Go Andrew Go!
Patriotism is wonderful thing. Important. Needed. To see it celebrated in popular culture is important. And we do see it -- just not the way Sarah Palin lovers approve of. Yes, Hollywood gets a little treacly with its liberalism; but to compare this war with WW2, is ludicrous. To say that pop culture should blindly support the faux-patriotism of the outgoing administration and its sickly lackeys, well, that's just idiocy. Won't happen. A just war will garner just support. What you propose Andrew is simply following the marching orders of a discounted world view. Again, won't happen. Be well.
While I certainly support any effort to get the Conservative message accurately out into pop culture, I dislike hearing ANY celebrity tell me what they think about politics, and/or national policy.
I know it's a fine line, but someone has to walk it.
Bless you, Breitbart, for trying to do something about the current conditions in Hollywood, and bless those who have the courage to participate and voice their views.
This past week I tried to view an HBO series on the Iraq war, but the portrayal of the American soldiers as maniacal, blood-thirsty, sexual deviates was so thoroughly disgusting that I returned the disks without finishing them. Even my husband, a Vietnam veteran, couldn't enjoy the sordid depiction of our soldiers in this war.
Then over the weekend, we went to see Valkyrie. Granted, the story of these brave Germans who stood up against Hitler is long overdue; nevertheless, as we left, I realized how sad it is that in order to see genuine heroes on screen, they have to be former Nazis. Certainly not Americans.
I agree that Hollywood just doesn't understand what Americans really want to see on the screen. Now, with great conservatives actors like Charlton Heston, John Wayne and Henry Fonda gone, conservatives wonder if there will ever be a motion picture industry that will portray Americans with honor and pride, which is how many, many of us have always felt.
I've seen the frustration of the 'silent majority' explode recently when talk show hosts ask their listeners to write or call their congressmen demanding that they be heard, and with positive results. We are out there. We are tuning in. We are reading. We just need someone to listen to us and to ask for our help.
Then, someday, as well as having a choice of decent films to watch, perhaps I'll also be able to turn on one of the major network channels again and actually hear the news from an unbiased reporter, instead of the ridiculously partial programs that pass for news shows today.
By the way, I'm a writer who taught history for years. Quite awhile ago I moved to one of those 'fly-over' red areas where I'm surrounded by many intelligent, hard working Americans, but according to my liberal sister, I live in Stupidville. When will Hollywood wake up and realize how many idiots there are out here who are willing to spend money and tune into programs that make us, rightfully, feel good about ourselves again?
And hey, how dumb can we be? Some of us even know how to turn on a computer!
Bold ambition. I love it. Best of luck.
Think how many exciting movies could have been made with the War as a background. What a rich mine of movie plots has been ignored. Hollywood, as is the rest of the MSM, is shooting itself in its foot.
I haven't been to the see a film in the theater for 5 years. And it ain't the price of the ticket keeping me away!
We need the kind of balance Big Hollywood can help bring to the entertainment industry. I stopped going to movies long ago, rent just a few, and watch less and less tv all the time. I just don't relate to most of what is on. Have you seen the kind of evening content on ABC Family Chanel?
This is sure to be as big as An American Carol!
(Heh.)

Andrew Breitbart apparently censors comments he doesn't like. I am somewhat perplexed as to why he wouldn't allow my comment (see below) to post.
Swiss police spy marijuana field with Google Earth

I find all the hoopla about this article astonishing.
It turns out this is NOT news – not in my book anyway. News means its new. This happened months ago. Its release now appears to be simply a planned press event by Norbert Klossner, of the Zurich police’s specialist narcotics unit to take advantage of the presence in Switzerland of all the international journalists covering the Davos, Switzerland World Economic Forum. It looks to me like some time ago the Zurich police googled the addresses of some long-time suspects and then saw the patch, about the size of one and a half football fields, which is not a "plantation" in my book, and logically they would have checked out the area on the ground which confirmed their suspicions.
Press releases, statements and events are meant to get attention. This one sure did. Just try googling "switzerland marijuana field" for the past 24 hours. Virtually every article is a variation of the same few paragraphs. Most don't have bylines because there was no actual investigation and reporting done, just the press doing the wishes of the Swiss police to get out their message. Notably NOT carrying any word of this “breaking” news item is The New York Times website.
We've been had.
