The Hamas apologists and supporters revel in the fact that Israel can't prevent Hamas from launching terrorist rocket attacks. No country could, unless they are willing to kill all of the Gazans. Hamas pretends to be civilians, hides in holes, dresses like women, hides weapons for later use, is re-supplied by Iran, etc., and can always make more home-made rockets. All Israel or any country can do is kill as many of the cowardly murderers as they can after an attack, and destroy the bases/command/supply centers that they can locate, as they are doing now.

the actual killers of civilians are terrorists there are only two visible parties doing that. hamas and IDF. both are terrorists who claim to be protectors of their civilian population. both violate humanitarian laws. Israel as a nation has violated several UN sanctions, it is violating its own supreme court judgement of allowing foreign journalists. israel seems to believe that making another few thousands orphans and widows will make them safer. I think this will create more anger and will create more unstable people.

As per usual, truth_hurts speaks no Truth. Unfortunately, lightnin' misses much too. Israel's territorial claims go back much further than any other group's, particularly those today calling themselves "Palestinians," who are an admixture of Arab and other immigrant peoples who arose after Israel was "wiped off the map" the first time by Rome. Modern Israel is only reclaiming their original homeland. Sorry, lightnin', but the only way that Israel can prevent Hamas from carrying out its terrorism is to do the same things which the Allies did in Nazi Germany and Italy after WWII, and that is to root out all ability to fire, manufacture, or import weaponry from Gaza and the West Bank, both of which are historically part of Israel anyway. Israel does not need to kill all "Palestinians."

We don't need a cease fire! Israel is already sending aid to the Palistian people in Gaza! Humanitarian Aid Reaching Gaza by Hana Levi Julian (IsraelNN.com) Shipments of humanitarian aid to Gaza resumed Monday after a two-day pause to allow the entry of ground troops into the region in Stage Two of Operation Cast Lead. Some 200,000 liters of heavy diesel fuel are being pumped through the Nahal Oz terminal, enough for the Gaza power station and other humanitarian needs as well. The depot was closed for the last week due to security concerns that blocked Israel's ability to operate the crossing, notably terrorist attacks aimed specifically at personnel manning the terminal.

Why isn't aid coming in from Egypt? Why is it up to the Israelis?

Here's a question, how can there be a shortage of humanitarian aid and NOT be a shortage of weapons? The rockets and bullets make it thru but the food and medicine do not? Perhaps there's a problem with priorities not to mention that firing rockets at your neighbors is really not a neighborly thing to do - don't be surprised if your neighbors "react" to it with at least some hostility.

In 1983 Bob Dylan wrote this song about Israel, dripping with sarcasm. How little things have changed for the "Neighborhood Bully..." Well, the neighborhood bully, he's just one man His enemies say he's on their land They got him outnumbered about a million to one He got no place to escape to, no place to run He's the neighborhood bully. The neighborhood bully he just lives to survive He's criticized and condemned for being alive He's not supposed to fight back, he's supposed to have thick skin He's supposed to lay down and die when his door is kicked in He's the neighborhood bully. The neighborhood bully been driven out of every land He's wandered the earth an exiled man Seen his family scattered, his people hounded and torn He's always on trial for just being born He's the neighborhood bully. Well, he knocked out a lynch mob, he was criticized Old women condemned him, said he could apologize Then he destroyed a bomb factory, nobody was glad The bombs were meant for him. He was supposed to feel bad He's the neighborhood bully. Well, the chances are against it, and the odds are slim That he'll live by the rules that the world makes for him 'Cause there's a noose at his neck and a gun at his back And a licence to kill him is given out to every maniac He's the neighborhood bully. Well, he got no allies to really speak of What he gets he must pay for, he don't get it out of love He buys obsolete weapons and he won't be denied But no one sends flesh and blood to fight by his side He's the neighborhood bully. Well, he's surrounded by pacifists who all want peace They pray for it nightly that the bloodshed must cease Now, they wouldn't hurt a fly. To hurt one they would weep They lay and they wait for this bully to fall asleep He's the neighborhood bully. Every empire that's enslaved him is gone Egypt and Rome, even the great Babylon He's made a garden of paradise in the desert sand In bed with nobody, under no one's command He's the neighborhood bully. Now his holiest books have been trampled upon No contract that he signed was worth that what it was written on He took the crumbs of the world and he turned it into wealth Took sickness and disease and he turned it into health He's the neighborhood bully. What's anybody indebted to him for ? Nothing, they say. He just likes to cause war Pride and prejudice and superstition indeed They wait for this bully like a dog waits to feed He's the neighborhood bully. What has he done to wear so many scars ? Does he change the course of rivers ? Does he pollute the moon and stars ? Neighborhood bully, standing on the hill Running out the clock, time standing still Neighborhood bully.

The bottom line is this: Hamas, in its charter documents, calls for the destruction of Israel. They are beholden to a one-state solution, with Israel destroyed. Israel is supposed to negotiate peace with those who wish to destroy it. Cease-fires are only "chic" and trendy when Israel either plans or implements plans to defend itself. When the rockets were fired from Gaza AFTER Israel withdrew from all of Gaza (ata rate 500 times higher than during Israel's occupation), no one talked of cease-fires. Western leaders who call for Israel to "restrain" itself or not defend itself at all either share the Hamas objective of Israel's destruction, or wish to see this endless conflict continue, with death as the constant. The fact remains that these leaders do not call on any other nation to cease firing as it is being actively attacked by an enemy who swears its destruction. The notion is absurd!
