I agree. I think it appropriate to disarm Gaza, arrest and try Hamas leaders for war crimes, destroy the tunnels, and blockade the area to all but humanitarian forces.
The question is - what should the US do? I wish I had an answer.
The world does not agree with Mr. Gaffney.
Israeli officers who have been part of the brutal occupatio of the Palestinian Territories have been told by their superiors that they should not travel to Europe for fear of arrest as war-criminals.
Last year an Israeli general had to hide in his plane at London airport while British police waited on the tarmac with a war-crimes warrant.
History is written by the victor. Then, in the U.S., history is rewritten by the politically correct critics of the victor, and the apologists for the victor.
Israel's attempted colonization of the West Bank has been a 40 year rolling disaster. With every "successful" military action Israel has become less secure.
ttolley,
Where are you getting your information? It doesn't appear to me Israel is having any problems exerting their will on Gaza. The only weakness I can see coming is if the intellectuals start to get in the way and request Israel to lay down their arms.
Shore10,
In the 42 years since Israel's victory in the 1967 war, when the West Bank and Gaza were captured, Israel has had military success after military success. Yet since then, Israel has been in a continious state of war between the residents there who have become increasingly militant and radical.
I don't know what the correct solution is, but after 42 years, I am pretty sure of what doesn't work.
The Palestinians elected Hamas. The majority of these voters knew exactly what they were voting in - a politically radicalized Muslim Brotherhood alternative to Fatah. This vote has consequences, and operation cast lead is one of the consequences of their vote for terror to take the lead. Without an establishment clause in the government's constitution - you have populism not representative democracy. It really is that simple. The US Citizen must take refuge in the Establishment Clause, else its government might bailout another terror housed in the Takaful division of AIG.
