Well, the Beltway establishment is certainly trying their best to put the lipstick on this pig.

Just one more confirmation of a legal approach to multilateralist foreign policy. Just like the Clinton administration, it will provide the legal excuses for inaction, deferred involvement and consensus in U.S. global affairs. It fits the pattern of leading by committee.

"Response to: Marusa Jaeger, Since when are a former director of the CIA and the founding senior civilian of the Marine Corps Intelligence Center The Beltway establishment?" I have never heard of the individual to whose defense you rise. If you know him personally or professionally to be a reliable SME on this, then I stand corrected. However, this article doesn't bring that out very well for why Mr. Steele would make such an unsupported, very generous endorsement of Panetta, comparing him to Casey. As I recall, when he was nominated, Casey was derided a fair amount for DCI, despite having prior experience with the OSS, the CIA's predecessor. Mr. Panetta has none, which would be a good deal less than Casey had. Given the CIA's pivotal role in national security, the mere fact that a SME wrote several books and worked in the MCIC, and thinks highly of Panetta for DCI, doesn't settle the matter, unless based on his experience he can articulate what exactly it is in Panetta's background that makes him the better man over the many other men and women out there who work in and handle national security, intel, and military operations as a career. I've read other such broad, unsupported praise before from pols and academics, and, frankly, it sounds like beltway politicking, in my humble opinion. Hence, I called a spade a spade based on what I saw in the article. If I'm off the mark on that and wrongfully smeared a good man who may have given a much better explanation of his opinion in his quote, but had that edited out by the Washington Times staff, then bad on me and I apologize.

OBAMA'S CIA: TERRORISTS DELIGHT? The appointment of Penetta is causing great concern within the intelligence community. http://greensrealworld.blogspot.com/2009/01/is-bush-departure-good-news-for.html

"When national security advisers fail to reign in warring bureaucratic factions, our security and intelligence, gathering capacity is in jeopardy. It's past time to get intelligence professionals in control. It's too important to our security to have Politicians run and control the intelligence gathering and enforcement community!

All the terrorists around the world are just licking their chops in anticipation of this inauguration. They can't wait to hit us again.

Panetta got his job the Chicago way - he bought it by kissing his boy Barry's skinny little behind and making sure the campaign coffers stayed nice and full. If Oprah hadn't turned back into such a fat pig, she would have had a crack at the job since she has shown such astute judgement, self control and her nose goes right where it needs to. YES WE CAN!!!

Until our intelligence chief and counter-terrorism specialist can see God's part in these conflicts, there can be no peace. God's word will be proven to be true. He cannot fail. There will be no solution in Israel, Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, Serbia, etc. until the word of God is brought in. Leviticus 26 is God's promise of blessings for obedience and 4 x 7 curses detailed for disobedience and hating His word. We will be drawn into a greater war if each religion does not admit their sins and turn to following God's word in truth. Muhammad was sent in 600+AD to say follow the whole Bible, not part. Jesus said to live by every word of God. Gold told Moses not to add or take away from the word of God he gave him. Jesus gave understanding, not new teaching. He came to restore what was lost. Exodus 20 Ten Commandments says not to make images and to keep the 7th day, the Lord's day, a Sabbath of no work for anyone. Exodus 12 in New Year and Passover commands. Leviticus 23 are God's commanded Holy Feasts and memorial celebrations. (not to be changed or added to). Jesus comes when His enemies are under His feet. His enemies are those who refuse to follow the word of God, the same yesterday, today and forever. There will be no peace until we turn to restoration of God's laws and people follow them.

Now that the Clinton admin is back in power I hope we won't start bombing French embassies in error again.
