MOFFIT: A High Court of Health 1/12/09
The liberals have long realized that the swiftest path to total socialism in the U.S. is via radical environmentalism or mandatory health-care. For example, if the mainstream liberal media can continue to convince the public that catastrophic manmade global-warming is real, then Congress can enact draconian measures to penalize the use of fossil fuels so as to save the planet. That will screw up our economy so badly--imperiling almost every citizen's paycheck--as to justify Congress then solving the problem by nationalizing business. And voila! full-blown socialism. Such a move would make President Bush's recent move to nationalize (i.e., "bail out") the economy look like child's play--although we have not yet even begun to experience the consequences of President Bush's foray into socialism.
Similarly, once the politicians have complete control over the health care of the American public, Washington will own our souls, and we will be helpless in its grasp. The politicians will then be able to drop the mask, and move us very swiftly the rest of the way into socialism.
Probably the only reason why President Clinton was unable to move his wife's total-health-care program through Congress was because he blabbed too quickly and too publicly about how he would use that program as his fulcrum to institute gun control, regulate what the public could eat and drink, etc. There's no end to it. You can regulate every last detail of every person's life and every aspect of business by claiming that you are doing it to cut the cost of health care--once you have a total lock on the nation's health-care system. But the public sensed what was coming, and Congress had to cut President Clinton off at the pass. Probably we won't be so lucky this time around.
Great piece. Won't find this in the NYT,CBS,NBC, etc.
Rating should be 5/5!
Sigh. Here it comes.
