Burris may become a junior senator; however, the nation will never have respect for him. He should have had the integrity to not accept the nomination when he knew he would be embarrassing his party and his president. His narcissistic pride is available for all to see. It is my hope that he is shunned by senate colleagues and the citizens of Illinois. I hope for a shallow victory.

While I would agree with Burris on very little politically I do have to give him credit for behaving in a manner befitting of the US Senate though out this entire process. I can not say as much for Harry Reid, Durbin or the rest of the group that opposed him.

Reid's technique is so old I hope no one is so young or naive to believe Reid would not accept Burris. Democrats, when facing a losing position, always make "bold", vocal, political statements to establish "moral superiority" - then they flip to their normal way of doing things citing one of a host of boilerplated execuses. When on the winning side, all is quiet. Compare Burris to this week's action in the Senate of passing the no-drill-nowhere-anytime land sequestering bill. Not a peep. Not a whisper. Everyone was bought off and Reid got a 62+ vote for a 10Billion dollar pork bill that makes a lot of the West worse than trying to drill in ANWR. It was always apparent Reid and the Democrats wanted the IL vote in the Senate ASAP to fight the filibuster but needed to pretend some sort of outrage. Pretty good fakery and pretty good timing. This will be a tiny story this week as the world gets caught up with the ascension of Obama The Great. If you did not expect this result you must be either work for MSNBC or a graduate of the Rather Democrat Worship and Praise School of Journalism. Perhaps even worse. You could be a salesperson for the Obama Historic Medallion Saving Creation. Only $29.99 plus S&H and $2.5 trillion bill to your kids.
