Perhaps, the Netherlands had better get some guts and make ready to defend its territory. Maybe having a military whose enlisted men sport pony tails, and allows it soldiers and sailors to form labor unions in the ranks isn't such a progressive idea after all. At least not if you want an army that can actually fight and win.
They'd do well to remember another tinpot dictator, Galtieri of Argentina, who invaded the Falklands to generate popular support when his disastrous economic policies had run their course. Chavez's disastrous policies will run theirs as well, and, perhaps, emboldened and well armed by his Russian benefactors, he may try a similar territorial grab.
Many misquotes, facts mixed up, wrong numbers. I regret having provided useful information that was incorrectly applied in the writing of this report.

Chavez is a dictator, and now he is trying to obtain support to his project to stay in power endlessly. All these years he has tried to obtain suport from caribbean countries. Aruba has not supported Chavez policies. Now is paying the price and som confontation my help to stimulate popular nationalism. Same as Argentina and Falkands
The bottom line for Russia and Chavez is the house of Saud. These people know both their business and geopolitics. They will say whatever you want to hear, but their policies are determined totally and precisely by their own interests. Those interests, for now, do not seem to coincide with the interests of the drunken new kids on the block viz. Russia and Hugo Chavez.
Two points: 1. You cannot see any oil derricks or flaming towers on Venzuela from Aruba; and 2. Venezuela has never claimed possession of Aruba, or any other Dutch islands.
Other than that, this article is pretty much lacking in factual information.
