GREEN & GLOVER: On the Fourth

Unreal

The cast of the MTV reality series “Real World DC” has arrived and is on the prowl. Cast members have been spotted at an Independence Day barbecue, Mimosa Salon in Dupont Circle, Thaiphoon, Ultrabar, Public and other spots around town.

The blogosphere is abuzz with sightings and descriptions, but it seems that thus far, the production crew has been stealing the show.

Crew members have been described by the Anti Real World DC blog as “better looking than the cast.” But perhaps they could stand to learn a lesson or two in manners.

Over the weekend, Channel 9 journalist Lindsey Mastis interviewed some bystanders and onlookers outside the Real World house. The production crew aggressively blocked her shot, getting their own camera lenses within inches of hers.

The confrontation ended peacefully because Ms. Mastis is a very patient and consummate professional.

Kudos to her for taking the high road while keeping the tape rolling.

On the Fourth

G2 ran into a very relaxed looking D.C. Council Chairman Vincent C. Gray outside the Safeway at 490 L St. NW on the Fourth of July. We asked how he was spending his holiday.

“I just came from the parade at the Palisades, and now I’m going to pick up a few things and spend the rest of the day with my family,” he said.

Is parade attendance obligatory for politicians?

Well, everyone loves them, or so they say.

Parades, that is.
