Tuning In to TV

Wentworth Miller of "Prison Break"Wentworth Miller of “Prison Break”

‘Break’ star moves

“Prison Break” star Wentworth Miller will guest-star in the Season 11 premiere of NBC’s “Law & Order: SVU,” TVGuide.com reports.

Mr. Miller, who spent years running from the police on Fox’s “Break,” will be on the other side of the law this time around. He will play a New York cop named Nate Kendal who saves a rape victim and crosses paths with detectives Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni).

Joining ‘Grown-ups’

Another party guest has been added to the “Saturday Night Live” reunion taking place on the set of the Columbia Pictures comedy “Grown Ups.”

Tim Meadows, a 10-year “SNL” alum, joins former colleagues Adam Sandler, Maya Rudolph, Rob Schneider, David Spade, Chris Rock, Norm Macdonald, Tim Herlihy and Colin Quinn in the cast of the ensemble comedy about high school friends who get together 30 years after graduation, the Hollywood Reporter notes.

Mr. Sandler, who is producing with Jack Giarraputo via their Happy Madison shingle, wrote the script with Fred Wolf. Dennis Dugan (“I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry”) is directing.

Mr. Meadows has appeared in the features “Mean Girls,” “Benchwarmers,” “Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story,” “Semi-Pro” and “The Ladies Man.”

He also stars on the TBS comedy “The Bill Engvall Show” and will appear in Fox’s summer movie “Aliens in the Attic.”

Griffin hosts roast

Kathy Griffin has been tapped to host Comedy Central’s roast of Joan Rivers, airing Aug. 9, Variety says.

Comedy Central is increasing the frequency of its roasts to more than once a year for the first time. The specials typically rank high on the list of the cabler’s most-watched programs, the trade publication notes.

The Rivers edition will tape on July 26 at CBS Radford Studios. Previous roasts have been held on the lot at Warner Bros.

“I will be roasting Joan with more gentleness and tenderness than her latest chemical peel,” quipped Miss Griffin, who stars in the Bravo reality show “Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D List.”

Comedy Central’s most recent roast, in which Larry the Cable Guy was skewered in March, remains the net’s most-watched program for the year.
