“I think it’s great,” Sir David Frost replied when asked by G2 how he felt about being portrayed as something of a lothario by actor Michael Sheen in the Academy Award-nominated flick “Frost/Nixon.”

Mr. Frost, still dashing at 70, was in the District Wednesday night as the keynote speaker for the Benjamin Franklin House Foundation’s annual fundraising gala. The trans-Atlantic organization maintains Franklin’s only standing home in London, built about 1730, as a museum and educational facility.

Standing next to British Ambassador Sir Nigel Sheinwald, Mr. Frost said he also was pleased by the way his then-girlfriend, Caroline Cushing, was played by actress Rebecca Hall.

Although Mr. Frost now is married to Lady Carina Fitzalan-Howard, his string of loves — besides Ms. Cushing, who was his mainstay during the famous interviews with former President Richard M. Nixon — included American actress Diahann Carroll.

On a more serious note, the Emmy Award-winning journalist says he is still committed to his profession although it has changed dramatically, thanks to the Internet and technology.

“I think that the Internet is a very good source of information and so on … but I think that the Internet is making more available. Whether there is depth if you substitute the Internet for things like The Washington Times, for instance … I don’t know whether you get anything that’s quite as deep.”

Mr. Frost said he hopes former President George W. Bush will be grilled one day as vigorously as he questioned Mr. Nixon. When we inquired as to whether former Vice President Dick Cheney would have a Frost/Nixon-esque moment, Mr. Frost said, “Cheney, or indeed President George W. Bush?” Perhaps both? “Both of them I think would be interesting for an in-depth study,” he said.

When asked if he has inquired as to whether Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney would be available for an interview, Mr. Frost replied, “No, but I will.”

We flatter ourselves to think the one-time ladies’ man was being flirtatious with us lady spies. As he walked away, he embraced us warmly and said, “God bless!”

Karaoke for a cause

Correspondents from CNN and Fox News Channel engaged in a friendly rivalry Wednesday night at the annual Capitol CAREaoke, a benefit at the Newseum for Childhelp in which personalities try to reach the right notes to help abused children.

Team CNN was led by a cowboy-hat-wearing Brianna Keilar, who was joined by Dana Bash (wife of John King, host of CNN’s “State of the Union”), Jessica Yellin and Elizabeth Manresa.

The ladies did their best rendition of Shania Twain’s “That Don’t Impress Me Much.”
