WASHINGTON (AP) - In a March 15 story about the pending deadline for the end of temporary protected status for 3,600 Liberians in the United States, The Associated Press erroneously reported that people living in the U.S. under temporary protected status have the same avenues to citizenship as other immigrants.

Temporary protected status alone does not offer a pathway to U.S. citizenship or legal residence, and those with temporary status must have some other immigration status as well if they wish to stay once their temporary status expires, said Citizenship and Immigration Services spokeswoman Chris Rhatigan.
