QUITO, ECUADOR (AP) - A small plane has crashed into the side of a building in a populated part of the Ecuadorean capital.

Associated Press journalists at the scene are watching black smoke pour from the building on Quito’s north side as rescuers search for victims and survivors.

Police have no word on casualties or the number of people on board.

The crash happened about 5:30 p.m. Thursday local time (6:30 p.m. EDT; 2230GMT).
