BOSTON (AP) - Wisconsin goalie Jessie Vetter has won the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award as the nation’s most outstanding NCAA Division I women’s hockey player.

The winningest goalie in women’s NCAA hockey history, Vetter beat out Sarah Vaillancourt, last year’s winner, and Mercyhurst forward Meghan Agosta.

Vetter will lead her top-ranked team into Sunday’s national championship game against Mercyhurst. The Badgers are seeking their third title in four years.

“This will be her fourth Frozen Four final, and to be recognized is a great way for her to end her phenomenal career at Wisconsin,” Badgers coach Mark Johnson said.

Vetter just missed her 14th shutout of the season in Friday night’s 5-1 win over defending champion Minnesota-Duluth, surrendering a goal in the closing minutes. Her 12 regular-season shutouts this season established an NCAA record.
