WEEKEND REWIND IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

Texas makes a statement -- They didn't take over the top spot in the polls or the BCS, but their big win over Oklahoma State moved the Longhorns up in the minds of a fair number of voters. With 13 first-place votes, Texas jumped over Alabama to second in the Associated Press poll and won't face another challenge until the Big 12 title game.

No worries for Wizards -- Washington followed its first loss -- and the loss of another All-Star when Caron Butler bruised his knee -- with a dominant win over the New Jersey Nets on Saturday in the home opener. It gave the Wizards a chance to show off their improved depth, and reserve Andray Blatche stole at least part of the spotlight from Gilbert Arenas. Inconsistent during his first four seasons in Washington, the forward is averaging 21.0 points and 6.3 rebounds through the first three games.

No local football teams lost -- Sure, it's a technicality. And actually Navy lost to Temple. But it's not enough to keep me from pointing out this rarity: Neither the Redskins nor Terrapins finished on the wrong end of the scoreboard this weekend. Washington had its annual bye week, making it OK that it didn't score. And Maryland didn't even make it to ESPN360 this past Saturday because it had no game scheduled. But have no fear: The Terps return to their Internet-only season Saturday against N.C. State.

TWT FIVE WORST NBA TEAMS

1. Bobcats -- M.J. has made another mess; reference Charlotte's 59-point outing in its loss to Boston. But at least the Bobcats beat...

2. Knicks -- While Waiting for LeBron, New York gave up 141 points in a home loss to Philadelphia on Saturday.

3. Nets -- They were thrashed by a Wizards team that featured Gilbert Arenas and a host of reserves.

4. Kings -- Sacramento is already 0-3, getting outscored by an average of 12.3 a game.

5. Clippers -- They're the first team to four losses and miss injured rookie Blake Griffin.
