this guy was an islamic terrorist. straight up. the media and the white house need to stop whitewashing it and call it what it was. a terrorist attack against our country and our military.
Excellent, concise, clear rational. Thank you Washington Times for printing this article without approval from Big Brother. Let the press remain free!
This report seems pretty accurate to me. Most likely Hasan qualifies to be called a Muslim Terrorist.
It is also very true that Obama and the Democratic Congress want turn a blind eye to this act. Perhaps to quell a backlash against homeland security, and perhaps to continue to promote the idea that some sort of dialogue with terrorists at the federal level will make the problem go away.
But beneath this is the fact that the US Federal Government has become a supporter Of Karzai and others in the Middle East that are attempting to build modern nation-states that will tax and marginalize many that live a traditional uneducated peasant life. The Donatist Christians of the Early Church that rose up against the Romans were very similar in that they were largely illiterate peasants that were taught that they would “receive their reward in heaven” if they sacrificed their life.
Closer to home, we have people in a growing grassroots limited constitutional government movement that feel the Federal Government is imposing itself on their way of life. The proposed Federal Health Care Bill will use force, jail terms, and confiscation of property to extract payment from the middle class whose way of life is disappearing here. There will be increased pressures for non-Muslim Americans to engage in terrorist acts like Timothy McVeigh if this unabashed Federal growth continues to destroy traditional American life. People need to find a way to live, whether they are Muslim, Christian, or Atheist and frustration frequently leads to aggression.
The Washington Times would be more accurate and constructive to call this terrorism on the part of a man who happens to be Muslim, rather than Muslim terrorism. For Christians and others are just as capable of terrorism when governments prevent their own pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness.
If the contention is being made that "one person cannot constitute a terrorist", what if the "shoe bomber" had succeeded in his dastardly attempt and brought down that airliner, would it not have been a terrorist attack?
It is ridiculous to try to marginalize these sleazy character and try to make them appear something they obviously are NOT.
No, we should at least call it "a hate crime."
Sounds ridiculous, now doesn't it?
Absolutely, it was terrorism. gonna change a lotta things on bases across America now.
I hope the military hangs Maj. Hasan by the neck until he is dead, dead, dead.
I have to question why the Muslims get special treatment when they make anti-American comments. For a military officer to make anti-American comments during time of war, some investigation should be made. Is the chain-of-command so fearful of ISLAM that they will not conduct an investigation of an Islamic member of the military service. What is our country coming to? Is the military run by a flock of sissy pansies? (Other than the President, of course--The Obama is a sissy pansy.)
The PROGRESSIVES have a different name for most everything. Relabeling terrorism to be something else means they can brag that no "terrorism" has taken place in America since the 09/11/2001 attacks. Are we to be lead to believe that Maj. Hasan accidently shouted "ALLAHU AKBAR" (meaning: Allah-the pagan Moon God is greatest of all) just before murdering Americans? Why are Americans tolerating our military mis-management from the highest ranks, where Islamists get a pass (no scrutiny for Islamics--don't want to upset them, you never know what they might do....), at least until they murder people. What about that Islamist internet chat room notification for all Muslims to kill non-Muslims by any means available (this message was available for Maj. Hasan to read BEFORE he began his killing spree).
Whilst the editorial gets across the key ideas quite effectively, it is appalling to note a major flaw. It chooses to characterize the Muslims of America as American Muslims. See, herein lies the fundamental problem. The Muslims living in the US ought to be called Muslim Americans and not the other way around. Anyone who chooses to live here and is uncomfortable with such a characterization has no business being in America.
Agree with GetReal1981 that the left-wing loonies like Obama have a different name for everything. The last line of the editorial, a very good one by the way, indicates that if Hasan is not a terrorist, no one is. That's the politically correct's point - there is and will no longer be any terrorism in the U.S. Oh, and also, there'll be no "tax" increases either on those making less than whatever the amount is. Fees, unfunded mandates, etc., but not "tax" increases.
Lamestream media is having a meltdown because it can't report that the Ft. Hood terrorist's last name is Palin.
Multiculturalism is a "progressive" creation and a deadly poison.
Not only are progressives (socialists) insane, they are also evil to the core.
Dr. King would roll over in his grave; if he were here he would probably be leading the Patriot movement...Non violent protest to achieve social change; change to the good old days when there was a Constitution. Since the melting pot became a mosaic of hyphenated Americans, Kings vision died. We are ONLy measured by the color of our skin! That P.C. crap is why this is NOT reported as Islamo Jihadi TERROR. Thank you Wash Times for calling a spade a spade.
My screen went off before I could finish posting this! This is what I tried to send: There appears to be an effort by the military, by the media and in editorials such as this, to not connect the terrorist to his religion. Some say it was "political." You cannot separate "political" from the Muslim faith. They are one in the same. For crying out loud! The guy shouted "Allahu Akbar!" when he was shooting his victims, the same cry that is shouted with each and every Muslim act of terrorism! It is amazing how quickly we have forgotten 9/11 with efforts to whitewash Islam so as not to offend any Muslims living in this country. Military investigators say that they are looking for a motive! What a joke! They know what the motive is - and it is religion. The Koran demands that good Muslims seek out the infidel (that's you and I in case you haven't figured it out) and slay him. What Muslim wouldn't want to be greeted by 72 virgins for killing an infidel?
In the U.S. in this day and age, political correctness always trumps the national security. Political correctness is the most corrosive and destructive weapion employed by the liberals today.
The WashTimes has fine editorials but I have to question this one. After 9/11 there was a debate on how to define terrorism and the consensus seemed to be something like ‘an attack on civilians to achieve a political goal.’ Go to ‘Definition of terrorism’ at Wikipedia, to the section on the United States. It describes how the Reagan administration came up with about six alternative definitions. They were all rejected because they would implicate the U.S. in terrorism. If you stop and think about different scenarios (snipers, missiles from UAV’s, etc.), it is easy to see how we could get trapped by our own definitions. I think that at the very least, any definition needs to limit itself to attacks against civilians.
