OPINION:
According to the editorial “Jesus, no, but yes to Allah” (Opinion, Tuesday), the nomination of David Hamilton to the 7th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals is stirring up a storm of controversy in Washington - and rightly so.
Among the objections of Sen. Jeff Sessions, Alabama Republican, is Judge Hamilton’s “extreme hostility against innocuous expressions of religion in the public square.” As a case in point, he “prohibited prayers in the Indiana House of Representatives that expressly mentioned Jesus Christ … yet he allowed prayers which mentioned Allah.”
The nomination of Judge Hamilton is hardly surprising, given the Obama administration’s despicable record of appointing radicals. In view of his unbecoming track record as a judge, the Senate would do well to reject his nomination categorically. The American people deserve better than an extremist serving in the 7th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals. The handwriting is on the wall.
