SALT LAKE CITY — Court papers say the woman charged in the 2002 abduction of Elizabeth Smart of Utah has reached an agreement with prosecutors and is expected to plead guilty in federal court on Tuesday.

The court papers do not specify the terms of the agreement or which charge or charges Wanda Eileen Barzee will plead to.

A spokeswoman for the U.S. attorney’s office says she cannot comment beyond what is contained in the court papers filed Monday with the U.S. District Court in Salt Lake City.

Both Brian David Mitchell and Barzee, Mitchell’s estranged wife, were indicted on federal kidnapping charges in March 2008.

Smart was taken from her Salt Lake City home at knifepoint in 2002. She was found nine months later with Barzee and Mitchell on a suburban street.
