WASHINGTON | Police have charged a man in the slaying of a woman during a robbery at a store in Northwest D.C.
Forty-five-year-old Andres Lopez was arrested Thursday afternoon. He is charged with felony murder while armed in the killing of 51-year-old Rufina Hernandez of Hyattsville, Md.
Hernandez was found with multiple gunshot wounds to the face and neck on Nov. 7 at her store, La Casa De Morata.
Police say two suspects, at least one of whom was armed with a handgun, robbed the business establishment at gunpoint. After getting money, one of the suspects shot the storeowner.
