MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Lindsay Whalen has signed a multiyear contract extension with the Minnesota Lynx.
The team announced the deal on Thursday. Terms were not disclosed.
The Lynx traded for Whalen before the season started. The Hutchinson native and University of Minnesota star is averaging 11.9 points, 5.6 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game in her first season playing in front of her hometown fans.
Lynx executive vice president Roger Griffith says Whalen is at the peak of her career and the team expects her to be one of the elite point guards in the league for years to come.
