Republicans need to abandon this ridiculous agreement with the Obama administration regarding extension of the Bush tax rates. Unless they are made permanent, there should be no deal.

In addition, we should not continually pay people to remain unemployed. It stifles incentive to perform at a less-satisfying job until the right job is available.

Listening to the back and forth about this mess proves that no one in Congress heard the message of Nov. 2. Republicans need to stand firm for permanent tax rates. While I understand the deadline, it should not pre-empt principles.
