Wizards’ Yi sprains knee against Lakers

WASHINGTON | Washington Wizards forward Yi Jianlian sprained his right knee in the first quarter and was out for the game Tuesday night against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Yi was hurt while fouling Ron Artest during a layup and was immediately helped to the locker room. The team announced he would not return.

The Wizards were already without point guard point guard John Wall and forward Andray Blatche. Wall has tendinitis in his right knee, and Blatche is out with a sore left knee.

Yi, acquired in an offseason trade with the New Jersey Nets, was averaging 7.1 points entering the game.
