A constitutional Christmas present

Virginia federal Judge Henry E. Hudson’s ruling against the individual mandate in Obamacare - coming just 12 days before Christmas - told Americans, “Yes, Virginia, there is a Constitution.”

At the close of the of the Constitutional Convention in 1787, a citizen asked Benjamin Franklin what kind of government we had - a republic or a monarchy. Mr. Franklin replied, “A republic, if you can keep it.” If the justices of the Supreme Court are as deliberative and wise as Judge Hudson, we will keep our republic.
