The fluffy, wet snow began to fall Tuesday evening and continued into the early morning.
Most roads were either just wet or covered in a thin layer of slush. But the majority of suburban schools were either closed or opened late.
Metrobuses were operating only on emergency snow routes but began to return to normal service by rush hour. Subway trains were mostly running on time.
Weather forecasters says the region could get snow again as early as Friday afternoon. The region got roughly fives inches over the past weekend and was hit with about 20 inches the weekend before Christmas.
