Metropolitan Police say Martin Luther Jr. King Day events on Monday will affect traffic in a number of locations in Washington.

A peace walk is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon. The walk starts in the 2500 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue Southeast, heads south on South Capitol Street and ends at the Covenant Baptist Church, 3845 South Capitol St. SW.

A procession for a wreath-laying ceremony will start at 12:30 p.m. at the 10th Street Baptist Church, 11th and R Streets Northwest. The procession heads north on 11th Street to Vermont Avenue Northwest before turning northeast on Vermont Avenue and ending at 2 p.m. at the African-American Civil War Memorial.

An event at the Martin Luther King Jr. Public Library will close the 900 block of G Street Northwest from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
