Metro says riders on the Red, Blue and Orange lines should prepare for longer trips on most nights in January as it completes maintenance.

The transit agency says people should plan on 20 to 30 minutes of additional travel time when riding Sunday to Thursday nights. Maintenance will begin at 8 p.m. on the Red Line and 9:30 p.m. on the Blue and Orange lines, lasting until midnight on all lines.

Crews will replace rail fasteners along the Red Line between Medical Center and Grosvenor stations, as well some stretches of the Blue and Orange lines. They also will replace concrete slabs under the rails between the Stadium-Armory and Addison Road stops on the Blue Line.

Other plans include preliminary switch replacement work at the Rosslyn station.
