Henry scores in Red Bulls debut

HARRISON, N.J. (AP) - Thierry Henry has scored in his first match with the New York Red Bulls, getting a go-ahead goal in the 24th minute of an exhibition against Tottenham.

The former Arsenal star, who left Barcelona to sign with the Major League Soccer team last week, cut in front of Verdan Corluka to slot in a cross from Estonian international Joel Lindpere past goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini on Thursday night.

Lindpere had played the ball through the legs of defender Alan Hutton before crossing.

Henry was playing his first match since France was eliminated from the World Cup with a loss to South Africa on June 22.
