GENEVA (AP) - Roger Federer has hired Pete Sampras‘ former coach to help him work on returning to his winning ways.
Federer said on his website Monday that he has “decided to spend some days” with Paul Annacone.
Federer has slumped from No. 1 in the ATP rankings to third following his quarterfinal loss at Wimbledon. It’s his lowest ranking since November 2003.
Annacone is leaving as the coach of men’s tennis in Britain in November.
The 16-time Grand Slam champion says “as Paul winds down his responsibilities working for the Lawn Tennis Association, we will explore our relationship through this test period.”
Federer adds that Annacone will work alongside his existing team.
