Giants sign second-round pick DT Linval Joseph

- Associated Press - Saturday, July 31, 2010

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - The New York Giants have only one draft choice left to sign.

Defensive tackle Linval Joseph, the Giants' second-round draft pick and the 46th pick overall, signed a multiyear contract with the team on Saturday.

The team did not disclose terms of the deal, which was concluded the day before the Giants opened training camp at the University at Albany.

Bill Johnson, Joseph's Atlanta-based agent, did not immediately return a telephone call left by The Associated Press on Saturday, seeking comment.

First-round draft pick Jason Pierre-Paul is the team's only unsigned rookie. Drew Rosenhaus, the defensive end's agent, has not responded to telephone and e-mail messages seeking comment on contract talks.

The 6-foot-4, 328-pound Joseph is a big run stopper who blossomed after losing more than 70 pounds after his freshman season at East Carolina. He had 60 tackles this past season with three sacks and 14 quarterback pressures.

The Giants also reached an agreement with free agent safety John Busing on Saturday.

David Canter, Busing's agent, said his client was flying from Atlanta to training camp on Saturday and would sign his contract when he arrived.

An outstanding special teams player, Busing started four games for the Houston Texans last season. The former Miami of Ohio player started his career with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2006.
