MADRID (AP) - Barcelona will host Real Madrid in the Spanish league’s first “clasico” this season on a Monday night to avoid clashing with Catalan local elections.

The league said Thursday it has scheduled the rivals to play at Barcelona’s Camp Nou stadium on Nov. 29 to avoid any “security concerns” resulting from the elections, which take place a day earlier.

The league ruling came despite players from both clubs saying they preferred to play the game on either Saturday or Sunday.

Madrid currently leads Barcelona by one point in the standings after 10 games. Barcelona has won four straight over its bitter rival.

The game starts at 3 p.m. EST and will be broadcast in the U.S. by GolTV and ESPN Deportes.
