CLARKSVILLE, TENN. (AP) - Austin Peay quarterback Trent Caffee has been released from the hospital after being treated for neck and head injuries he suffered against Murray State.

The senior was injured during the second quarter on Saturday when his helmet was ripped off and his head slammed into the shoulder pads of a defender before coming in contact with the artificial-turf field.

Caffee was released from St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville on Tuesday after showing daily improvement but still has a long way to go before being fully recovered.

Austin Peay spokesman Brad Kirtley says Caffee has returned to the university and is expected to resume his studies in the near future after making more improvement.
