Schaub hospitalized with bursa sac injury in knee

HOUSTON (AP) - Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub has been hospitalized with a bursa sac injury in one of his knees and missed Wednesday’s practice.

Coach Gary Kubiak would not specify which knee Schaub hurt, but said the injury will not require surgery. Kubiak expects Schaub to return to practice on Thursday and be ready when the Texans (4-5) play at the New York Jets (7-2) on Sunday.

Schaub’s agent, Joby Branion, would not comment on Schaub’s status.

Kubiak said he did not know how Schaub hurt his knee. Schaub was hospitalized overnight, and Kubiak says the team wanted to keep him there on Wednesday as a precaution.

Schaub ranks fifth in the AFC in completion percentage (64.2) and yards passing (2,320). Dan Orlovsky is Schaub’s backup, and Matt Leinart is next on the depth chart.
