LAUREL, Md. (AP) — Authorities say a man pushing his disabled car down the Baltimore-Washington Parkway has been struck by another vehicle and killed.

U.S. Park Police Sgt. David Schlosser says the man was headed southbound on the parkway when he was hit by the other car about 1 a.m. Friday near Route 197. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Schlosser says a tour bus traveling south on the parkway swerved to avoid the accident and got stuck in the mud nearby.

The southbound lanes of the parkway had been closed. They were reopened just before 6 a.m.
