Bishop Pete Broadbent says he has conveyed his sincere regrets to the couple and to Prince Charles for comments he made on Twitter and Facebook.
The bishop of Willesden _ an area in northwest London _ apologized Monday after making the “seven years” crack and other harsh comments about the royal family. He also said he was planning to make a “republican day trip to France” on the day of the royal nuptials.
Broadbent says he made a major error in the tone and content of his comments about the wedding plans. He says he wishes the couple a long, happy marriage.
