Liverpool completes sale to Red Sox owners

LONDON (AP) - Liverpool says the soccer club has been sold to the owners of the Boston Red Sox.

The $476 million takeover by New England Sports Ventures was completed Friday after a bitter court fight with the club’s previous American owners.

The deal went through after owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jr. withdrew the temporary restraining order blocking the sale they had obtained in a Texas court. But they intend to pursue a claim for $1.6 billion in damages.
