Chile rescue a call for global cooperation

- The Washington Times - Monday, October 18, 2010

Didn't we all feel a wonderful sense of togetherness in the human family when we saw those 33 people rescued from that mine in Chile? The Chilean government wasn't afraid to accept the worldwide help that was offered, and great minds created a successful outcome. Years back, the Russians shunned worldwide offers of help and 188 perished aboard their Kursk submarine.

What fantastic things we could do in this world if we outlawed war, strengthened the United Nations and all worked together to solve our global problems. President Truman said, "If we do not want to die together in war, we must learn to live together in peace." The EU has shown us that formerly warring countries can cooperate. I am not afraid to give it a try on a global level.
