BOSTON (AP) - Chase Rettig, a freshman making his debut, left Boston College’s game against Notre Dame on Saturday night with a left ankle injury.
Rettig limped off the field after he was hit in the pocket early in the second quarter. Mike Marscovetra replaced him.
The school said Rettig was taken to the locker room for X-rays.
Dave Shinskie started the first three games of the season, but he lost his job after last week’s 19-0 loss to Virginia Tech. It was BC’s first shutout since 1998.
Rettig completed 5 of 10 passes for 72 yards before leaving the game, including a 58-yard touchdown.
