CLEVELAND (AP) - Jim Thome is back in the starting lineup for the Minnesota Twins.

Thome was the designated hitter, batting sixth in manager Ron Gardenhire's lineup Saturday against the Cleveland Indians. Thome had missed two games with a mild abdominal strain.

Thome is tied with Frank Robinson for eighth on the career home run list at 586.

"It feels pretty good today," Thome said.

The 40-year-old Thome was 5 for 6 with four homers, a double, five walks and seven RBIs in his previous three games. He also entered batting .474 (9 for 19) with four homers and nine RBIs in his prior seven games in Cleveland, where he played from 1991-02.

Gardenhire said left-hander Jose Mijares, sidelined since Aug. 12 with torn cartilage in his right knee, had been activated from the disabled list. Mijares is 1-1 with a 2.81 ERA in 37 appearances.

Gardenhire also expects left-hander Brian Fuentes to be available out of the bullpen soon. Fuentes threw a bullpen session Saturday.

"He probably could return Sunday," Gardenhire said.

Acquired from the Los Angeles Angels on Aug. 27, Fuentes struck out the only batter he faced the next day for a save at Seattle, but has not pitched since because of a strained back.

Gardenhire does not expect right-hander Carl Pavano to miss any time because of a stiff neck.

Pavano allowed two runs and six hits in eight innings Friday during a 2-0 loss to Cleveland.
